Genetic Technology Has Reached a Turning point

Thanks to the exponential growth of research technology in biology, innovative startups, governments, and farmers can bring novel ideas to life. All they need is the right scientific partners—and that’s where Kultiva comes in. Kultiva is a cooperatively run research facility based in Bali, Indonesia. We work to rapidly develop Genetic Technology (GenTech) for the betterment of the planet, with a special focus on those countries hit hardest by rising temperatures and vanishing rainforests.

Our Vision

What good is transformative GenTech if we keep it all to ourselves?

In the spirit of cooperation, we ensure that all the plants we create from our self-directed projects are available to anyone under a free-use policy, so people across the globe can culture and share them for non-commercial use.

Naturally, the work we do for our clients remains confidential. Our bespoke research projects involve the practical implementation of plant and mammalian genetic therapy, and some of our most promising projects are funded by entrepreneurs and innovators with no formal science background.

Our Focus

We work primarily in tropical countries that are most at risk for habitat loss and deforestation.

Why? Because developing nations and emergent economies have the most to gain from bioengineering breakthroughs. After all, much of their livelihoods depend on natural resources.

We believe sustainable GenTech can solve our planet’s greatest crises, and we work in diverse fields to maximize our impact.

Our Projects

Kutliva’s in-house development projects include genetically optimized agroforestry to promote biodiversity and economically viable forests, carbon capture by engineering fast-growing, carbon-hungry plants, and mammalian genetic transformation for anti-aging and regenerative medicines. And that just the beginning.

Meet the Team

We’re a diverse team of research scientists and biologists from countries around the world. We joined forces to develop cutting-edge genetic solutions to some of the world’s most pressing problems, and we’ve designed a sustainable business model that supports our clients, the countries we serve, and the planet as a whole.

Diego Garrido

Director

Diego was a researcher at the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute, and went on to head biolgy projects in Borneo, zimbabwe, and papuan islands. He has extensive experience in  plant science and scaling..

In addition to serving as the Director at Kultiva, his expertise in the field of genetic technology applications is one of the main pillars of Kultiva’s advancement today.
